MERA CORPORATION IS BORN BY THE INITIATIVE OF ITS PRESIDENT AND MAIN PARTNERS

Rafael Aguirre Gómez, a visionary businessman with a wide experience and understanding of the mexican and foreign markets creates MERA Corporation in early 90’s. Since its first steps, MERA Corporation has grown steadily, writing a history full of successes.

OUR history

1989

With the creation of the first Dinner Show in Cancun "El Cortijo".

1991

Rafael Aguirre Gomez creates Mera Corporation with the acquisition of the American franchise “Pat O’ Brien’s”.

1997

Mera Corporation gets the license of the Australian franchise and it opens the first “Outback Steakhouse” in Cancun.

1998

The creation of two Original Concepts for Food Courts "Market Station Bakery" and "Johnny Coladas" for one of the first malls in Cancun, Flamingo Plaza.

1999

Mera triumphs over the bid of Food and Beverage Services at the international airports of Cancún, Mérida and Cozumel, summoned by ASUR.

2000

Company operations start in airports.

2002

Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville opens for the first time in Cancun, operated by Mera

2005

The well-known American franchise “Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.”, inspired in the Forest Gump movie, open its doors for the people of Cancun.

2006

The franchise "Berryhill Baja Grill" opens at Terminal 3 of the Cancún Airport.

2007

The Food Court at Terminal 3 of the Cancún Airport, Margaritaville in Cozumel and Bubba Gump in Puerto Vallarta all open in the same year.

2008

Three Amigos Cantina opens its doors at the Carnival Puerta Maya Cozumel, one of the main Cruise Ports in the country.

2009

Construction and operation begins of the Food Court at Toluca’s airport.

2011

Mera starts operations in Guadalajara’s international Airport with six food court restaurants.

2013

After winning the bid for Quito International Airport, operations begin this year as the first international experience for the company. Mera also started operations in Cancun’s terminal 1.

2014

Operations started in Puerto Vallarta’s international airport with 4 restaurants, including one full service.

2015

By winning another bid for Guadalajara’s international airport, Mera opens 5 new restaurants in the international hall. During this year, it also started operations for Guanajuato’s Airport.

2016

Guy Fieri’s Kitchen + Bar open its doors in Playa del Carmen’s 5th avenue.

2017

Mera started operations in Burbank California’s international airport as well as opening 19 restaurants in Cancun’s new terminal 4, including the acquisition of American franchise Panda Express that opened their first restaurant in a Mexican airport.

Today we have more than 20 years experience in Operation. More than 50 businesses,

The heads of MERA Corporation know and understand well the needs of national and international travelers, while simultaneously being aware of the latest trends and services in the market, so that this story can continue writing itself in the future, with more successes .
