Mara Lezama inaugurated a key facility for educational development in Quintana Roo. The governor officially delivered the renovated Student Home spaces in Chetumal. Currently, the project aims to prevent school dropout rates in the southern region. This student shelter remained completely abandoned for more than 20 consecutive years.

Dignified infrastructure for southern youth

The construction represented a historic investment exceeding 24.5 million pesos. Through these resources, the local government expanded the center’s capacity to 134 students. Additionally, they built a brand-new building dedicated exclusively to female dormitories. For this reason, the facility guarantees a safe and comfortable stay.

The Secretary of Public Works, Rafael Lara Díaz, detailed the technical aspects of the project. The installations include specialized nutritional, psychological, and accessible areas for disabled individuals. Common areas and dining rooms were also fully rehabilitated. Therefore, students from diverse rural communities will have significantly better living conditions.

Transparency and fighting social inequality

During the event, the state leader was accompanied by various DIF and youth institute authorities. In her speech, Mara Lezama urged the young students to fulfill their professional dreams. She stated that public funds must return directly through community benefit works. Likewise, she stressed her commitment to closing long-standing social inequality gaps.

Finally, Quintana Roo’s youth received their respective access credentials for the renovated educational complex. Authorities will maintain technical and operational monitoring of the site during the upcoming months. The main goal will be to guarantee a healthy and peaceful environment for the entire university community.
