Puerto Morelos has kicked off the Easter holiday season with strong results, reporting hotel occupancy rates above 80 percent, according to Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz. The figures reinforce the destination’s position as one of the top choices in the Mexican Caribbean.
The mayor highlighted that both domestic and international tourists have been enjoying the wide range of experiences Puerto Morelos offers, including adventure activities along the Cenote Route, water sports at the coral reef, and its well-known culinary scene.
“Puerto Morelos is experiencing an outstanding holiday season, with a high influx of visitors enjoying our natural beauty, the warmth of our people, and a diverse tourism offering that positions us as a safe, organized, and welcoming destination,” she stated.
Regarding the holiday operation, Civil Protection Director Antonio Domínguez Olán reported that a coordinated, multi-agency deployment remains in place to ensure the safety and well-being of both visitors and residents. The Civil Protection team includes 16 personnel, supported by two ATVs for beach patrol, four motorcycles, three vehicles, and command posts along the beach.
He noted that more than 5,600 visitors have attended public beaches, averaging around 700 people per day over the past eight days.

Meanwhile, Secretary of Public Security, Navy Lieutenant Alejandro Nava García, stated that the destination remains calm following various religious and tourist activities held throughout the city.
He confirmed the deployment of 170 personnel from multiple divisions, including Tourist Police, Traffic and Road Safety, GEAVIG, Crime Prevention, Citizen Participation, Internal Affairs, and C2 monitoring staff, with support from the Mexican Navy, Army, and National Guard.
A total of 34 patrol units are covering tourist zones, the municipal center, and surrounding communities, with increased surveillance in high-traffic areas to ensure safety and immediate response to any incidents, supported by continuous monitoring through the C2 system.
Fire Department Director Jorge Serrato reported four traffic accidents with no injuries, as well as responses to residential fires, also without casualties.
Mayor Blanca Merari emphasized the importance of continuing these efforts to keep the destination safe, clean, and organized, ensuring a high-quality vacation experience for visitors while generating economic benefits for local businesses and families.
